Welcome to Aragon Acres, our veteran-owned and operated family homestead nestled in the beautiful countryside of Northeast Texas, near the small town of Big Sandy.
We’re a husband-and-wife team, both proud United States Army veterans, with a shared dream of building something meaningful through hard work, faith, family, and a love for animals.
But our story didn’t begin on a farm. In fact, it started years ago, long before either of us imagined we’d be building a homestead together.
From the Texas Hill Country to Northeast Texas
We’re both originally from the beautiful Texas Hill Country, a place that will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Somewhere along life’s winding roads, however, we found ourselves putting down roots in Northeast Texas.
We may have traded the rolling hills of Central Texas for the tall pines and green pastures of East Texas, but we brought our love of country living, wide-open spaces, and Texas traditions right along with us.
And somewhere along the way, this little piece of land began to feel like home.
A Love Story That Started in the Army
Long before Aragon Acres, our paths first crossed while serving in the United States Army.
Like so many things in life, our journeys eventually took us in different directions. Years passed, life happened, and we each followed our own roads.
But apparently, our story wasn’t quite finished.
After several years, we found each other again. What began as a connection years earlier grew into something much more meaningful.
We fell in love, got married, and began building a life together.
Looking back, it’s pretty amazing how life can bring two people full circle.
We sometimes joke that after everything the Army taught us about planning, organization, and adapting to unexpected situations, we should be perfectly prepared for farm life.
Then one of the pigs reminds us who’s actually in charge!
How Aragon Acres Began
Every great adventure starts somewhere, and ours started with a piece of East Texas land and a vision of what it could become.
We wanted to build something together. Something that reflected our values, gave us an opportunity to work side by side, and allowed us to create a lasting legacy for our family.
That dream became Aragon Acres.
Our goal is to transform our small homestead into a thriving farm that raises quality livestock, produces farm-fresh products, and brings people together through shared experiences.
We’re building Aragon Acres one project, one animal, and one lesson at a time.
And if there’s one thing we’re already discovering, it’s that farm life rarely goes exactly according to plan!
Meet Our Growing Farm Family
Our farm is currently home to Kunekune pigs, a colorful flock of chickens, and guinea fowl.
We’re especially excited about developing our registered Kunekune breeding program, producing beautiful farm-fresh eggs, and eventually welcoming Nigerian Dwarf goats to the family.
As Aragon Acres grows, we also hope to introduce handmade goat-milk soaps, candles, and other farm-inspired products.
Every animal has its own personality, and we can’t wait for you to meet them.
Some are sweet, some are stubborn, and some seem convinced that every trip outside means it’s feeding time!
Learning Together, Growing Together
Here’s something important about us: We don’t claim to know everything about farming.
We’re learning every day, and we want you to be part of that experience.
Through our blog, Life at Aragon Acres, we’ll share our DIY building projects, animal care experiences, successes, mistakes, and even the occasional farm disaster that we can hopefully laugh about afterward.
But we don’t want this to be a one-way conversation.
We want to learn from you, too!
Whether you’ve been farming for 40 years, recently started your first backyard chicken flock, or are simply dreaming of your own homestead, we welcome your experiences, recommendations, questions, and constructive advice.
We believe some of the best lessons come from people willing to share what they’ve learned.
And who knows? Your suggestion might just become the subject of our next farm project!

Our mission is simple: to raise healthy, well-cared-for animals, produce quality farm products, and build a welcoming community rooted in honesty, hard work, faith, family, and shared knowledge.
We believe in doing things the right way, treating people with respect, and remembering that even the smallest farm can make a meaningful difference.
We’re proud of our military service, grateful for the journey that brought us back together, and excited about what the future holds for Aragon Acres.
